Robert F. Murphy left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 14, 2020. Robert was born in Brighton, Massachusettes, in August 1937. He served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962.

Along the journey Robert met the love of his life, Katherine Goodchild, of Powell. They were married in October 1961, at the Union Presbyterian Church in Powell.

In August 1962, the couple welcomed their first child, Brian Murphy, at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital. In 1966, the couple welcomed their second child, Bradley Murphy, into the world. Robert worked as a laboratory technician in various refineries in Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Robert and Katherine retired in 1999, and moved back to Powell where Robert said the couple would retire. Upon retirement, Robert enjoyed playing golf and camping in the mountains on the North Fork of the Shoshone River and in the Bighorn Mountains, and doing yard work on the property.

Robert dearly loved spending time with family and friends and was the kind of person who cherished his children and lovely wife Katherine. October would have marked 59 years of marital bliss.

He is survived by brother, David Murphy; brother, Leon Murphy (Gail); wife, Katherine Murphy; and sons, Brian (Violetta) and Bradley Murphy; and two grandsons and three great-grandkids.

Graveside funeral services will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, with vehicle procession starting in front of the Union Presbyterian Church, 329 N. Bent Street in Powell at 9:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers please donate in memory of Robert Murphy to your local American Legion Post and Masonic Temple. If attending the service, PLEASE WEAR A MASK and bring a chair.
