(April 19, 1929 - Dec. 17, 2010)
Robert A. Lohrenz died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at the Powell Valley Hospital.
He was born April 19, 1929 at the family farm several miles east of Lovell to Conrad and Katherine Lohrenz, the youngest boy of 15 brothers and sisters.
Bob attended school in Deaver, grades 1 through 12. He was drafted into the Army in February 1951. He was stationed at Fort Warden, Wash., assigned to the 699th Engineer Amphibious Support Regiment and was discharged honorably in February 1953 and had continued to enjoy association with fellow Korean War veterans.
After he was discharged, Bob farmed and worked in the oil fields. In 1955, he married Alene Reinhardt, his wife of 47 years. Three daughters were born to this union, Denise (Wyatt) Howard, Janelle (Rod) Blesener and Claire (Todd) Reno.
Bob spent many years successfully farming. Being active as a professional auctioneer, he worked with an auction firm based from Cody for 35 years and as a livestock auctioneer at Greybull Market for 23 years.
Bob married Linda Armstrong in 2003. They shared a mutual interest in enjoying the great Wyoming outdoors and “discussing” politics.
Robert enjoyed trips to the mountains and to Yellowstone National Park, attending auctions and involvement in family gatherings. One of his favorite and most anticipated times of the year was the annual family picnic. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading everything from the cereal box to news magazines and papers, Livestock Farm and Ranch publications, novels and especially books and publications related to local and Wyoming history, geography and wildlife. He also enjoyed his horses and cattle.
He was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and had multitudes of friends who shared his interests and professions. He was an active part of the Powell farming community for many years and will be greatly missed by his friends and family, to whom he was fiercely devoted and loving.
Bob was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Alene and all but one of his siblings.
He is survived by his wife Linda; sister Glory Frame of Powell; sister-in-law Dorothy Lohrenz of Powell; three daughters and their spouses and grandchildren: Stacy (Justin) Eadus, Matthew (Chelsie) Howard, Katy Snapp, Nathan (Katie) Blesener, Dusty (Carrie) LaFollette, Rusty (Elisha) Reno and Desiree Reno; stepson and daughter, Sam (Mandy) Armstrong and Dara (Sean) McGuire; four step-grandchildren, Harrison Armstrong and Brenna, Maryn and Emma McGuire; and eight great-grandchildren.
Christian burial services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, with Pastor Lee Wisroth officiating.
Memorials may be sent to Immanuel Lutheran Church (building fund), 223 East Fifth Street, Powell, WY 82435, or the American Heart Association.
