Reunion weekend: Individual and combined class activities planned

Reunion weekend is only a week out and plans are fully underway to celebrate Powell High School’s many alumni. 

While there are many events throughout the weekend that alumni can partake in, reunions will be held for individual classes Friday aside from the Class of 1998.

 

Reunion schedule

The Class of 1949 will be holding its reunion dinner at Beryl and Winston Churchill’s home.

The Class of 1958 will meet at Dave and Sue Bonner’s home at 844 Road 9 ½ at 5:30 p.m. The dress code will be casual attire and there will be a backyard gathering featuring a dinner of carry-out Mexican food.

The Class of 1960 will have a picnic at Washington Park at 11 a.m. which is bring your own everything.

The Class of 1962 will be meeting at the Weed and Pest Building at 1067 Road 12 for a luncheon beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The Class of 1963 will be holding a gathering at the Elks Club at 581 N. Clark St. at 5 p.m.

The Class of 1968 will be meeting at Catering with Joy at 1069 Road 12 at 5 p.m.

The Class of 1973 will have a reunion  at 6 p.m. at the Churchill Farm’s shop on 1040 Lane 8.

The Class of 1978 will be gathering at the Lamplighter Inn at 6 p.m.

The Class of 1983’s gathering will be at the American Legion at 5 p.m. There will be a $20 entry fee to pay for pizza and the venue.

The classes of 1988 and 1993 will have a combined class reunion at 6 p.m. at Plaza Diane. There will be live music, three food trucks and a cash bar. The classes invite all PHS graduates to attend. 

The Class of 1998 will be gathering at 3 p.m. Saturday at 1325 Lane 14. There will be a brisket, burgers, live band and fireworks. Trent Reed asks that people bring a side dish if they are able. 

The Class of 2013 will be gathering at Southside Park from 5:30 p.m.- 9 p.m. For more information class members can check the PHS Class of 2013 Facebook page.

Other events for graduates begin Friday with the poker run sponsored by the Friends of the Library which will be Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m. There will also be a Heart Mountain Reclamation Tour beginning at 10 a.m. Homesteader Museum will host an open house from 2 - 4 p.m. The museum will also have a PowerPoint presentation on the area at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Kicking off the day Saturday will be a 5k run sponsored by the PHS volleyball team. The run will begin at the American Legion on 143 South Clark Street where breakfast will be served to reunion goers at 8 a.m sponsored by the Rotary Club. The Panther Open Golf Tournament will be at 9 a.m. at the Powell Golf Course. The Northwest College Car Show will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the college mall. Registration for those wishing to show cars is at 8 a.m.

At noon, the PHS classes of 1968 and 1970 will also be hosting a Saturday at Washington Park to mingle with all classes. Saturday evening will end with a Cornhole tournament followed by food trucks, music and a cash bar at the Park County Fairgrounds. 

Closing out the weekend on Sunday will be music from Dave and Donna Coy performing as Friends Forever at Gestalt Studios from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
