The clippers were going at max speed at Sportman’s Barber Shop in Powell Friday and Saturday, May 1-2 to address pent up demand — and overgrown hair — after a COVID-19 shutdown of more than a month.
Barbershops and hair salons were among the facilities allowed to reopen in Wyoming in a partial relaxation of health department restrictions.
For the two-chair Sportsman’s Barber Shop, the May 1 reopening set a record for haircuts in a single day, said TJ Edgell. He and his father, Doug Edgell, “were insanely busy” as men and boys filed in one after another for a long-awaited trim.
“I know we had well over 100 people come through the shop on Friday [May 1] and probably the same on Saturday,” TJ Edgell said. “Friday definitely set a record for one day.”
Only the pepople in the barber chair are allowed inside the shop at one time, though it’s possible those regulations may be relaxed later this week.
