Rebecca Jeanne Tomlinson Horton


(Oct. 25, 1950 - Aug. 9, 2010)Rebecca “Becky” Jeanne Tomlinson Horton, of Greybull, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010. She was 59.

A funeral Mass was held Friday, Aug. 13 in Greybull with burial at the Donald J. Ruhl Memorial Cemetery in Greybull.

Becky was born Oct. 25, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert and Molly Gabardi. She joined siblings, Jacquelline, Mary and Joseph. Shortly after her birth, Becky's mother, Molly died, and Becky was raised and adopted by her uncle and aunt, Peyton and Mary Ruth Tomlinson. She joined siblings, Pat, Paul and Michael.

Becky attended school in Greybull and graduated in 1969. While in school, she was very proud of being first chair French horn in band. She continued her education at Northwest Community College in Powell where she received an associate degree.

Becky married Darrell Horton on July 31, 1969. To this union were born three children: Katy, Duane and Sara. She was very proud of her children. Becky owned and operated the A&W Drive-In at Greybull for more than 30 years.

She and her husband, Darrell, farmed and ranched on the Greybull River, and owned and operated other area businesses throughout her life.

Becky was preceded in death by both sets of parents; her grandparents; sister, Jacquelline Wilhelm; brothers, Pat, Paul and Michael Tomlinson; and son-in-law, Lari Sluggett.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Darrell; three children, Katy (Levi) Johnson of Winnett, Mont., Duane (Lisa) Horton and Sara (Dean) Schlattmann, all of Otto; five grandchildren who were “the light of her life” – Logan, Piper, Sydney, Seth and Jake; a brother, Joseph (Cindi) Gabardi of Layton, Utah; a sister, Mary (Dieter) Zander of Takoma Park, Md.; stepmother, Shelia Tomlinson; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, stepsisters, nieces and nephews; and all the former A&W employees.

Memorials will be received in Becky's name at the Big Horn Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 471, Greybull, WY 82426.
