(June 18, 1934 - March 20, 2004) Memorial services will be Thursday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cody for R. Marie Guthrie, 69, who died Saturday, March 20 at her Powell home after a short, but courageous struggle with pancreatic cancer. Pastor Timothy Klug will officiate at memorial services. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell. She was born June 18, 1934, in Powell to Henry and Rena (Spinney) Baird at their home on June 18, 1934 in Powell. She was raised in the community and attended Powell schools. She married Art Guthrie on Dec. 2, 1951. Four children were born to this union: Linda, Jerry, Rick and Brenda. Art and Marie remained in Powell until employment with Marathon Oil Company transferred them to Casper in 1980, then to Cody in 1985. They lived in Cody until returning to Powell in 1996. They traveled in their retirement years and enjoyed the many places they visited. Her husband died in October, 1996. She loved the Lord and was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cody. She was also a member of her church's Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the VFW Auxiliary. She loved her family and thoroughly enjoyed being around her eight ghrandchildren. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, knitting and cross stitch embroidery. Survivors include her children, their spouses and grandchildren: Linda (Larry) Kloster and sons Ryan and Kyle of Casper, Jerry (Kathy) Guthrie and daughter Kali of Midland, Texas; Rick (Deanna) Guthrie and children Megan, Corey, Travis and Sheana of Meeteetse, and Brenda Hewitt and daughter Kelsey of Casper; her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Barbara Baird, of Tulsa, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art; her parents, Hank and Rena Baird; her sister, Estella (Dodie) Howard; and her brother, Bob Baird. For those who wish, the family would appreciate memorials to Powell Valley Hospice, 777 Ave. H, Powell, or Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1207 Stampede Ave., Cody, WY 82414.
