Protest of coronavirus restrictions planned in Cheyenne

Posted

A group of residents plans to protest the ongoing restrictions on daily life from the new coronavirus on Monday at the Wyoming State Capitol.

Susan Graham and Fred Schlachter said they’re organizing a “Rally for the Choice to Work” at noon in Cheyenne, where they will encourage Gov. Mark Gordon “to fully open Wyoming’s economy.”

“I believe that the current orders from our Governor are not only unconstitutional, but they are harmful to our state and to our nation,” Graham and Schlachter said in an email. “The Wuhan virus situation will not be remedied by an either/or solution. We can keep both our jobs and our health!”

They said “the facts are on the side of common sense with targeted quarantine of high-risk categories of individuals,” urging those people to “please stay home and we will represent you while we rally for the choice to work.”

The Park County Republican Party shared the rally announcement on its Facebook page this week as “Just an FYI.” A similar protest was held in Casper on April 9.
