Dear editor:
Why is gas and diesel fuel $0.20-$0.25/gallon higher in Powell than it is in either Cody or Lovell?
It has been this way for a couple of weeks now. I haven’t seen a price reduction to be more in line with the surrounding area, even though I haven’t seen fuel deliveries at all of the Powell retail vendors.
Given the price difference, it makes sense for me to fill up in Cody. While I am there, I will also be doing my other shopping, such as groceries, hardware and other miscellaneous stuff.
I would prefer to keep my dollars in Powell, but I can’t see getting gouged anymore for gas and diesel. I suspect I am not going to be the only person doing more shopping in Cody. This price disparity hurts the entire community, as there will be less money spent at home.
I would be interested in why the substantial difference in price. I seem to remember sometime back that there was some price fixing that went on in Powell.
