Powell welcomes two babies on New Year’s Day

Powell Valley Healthcare welcomed not one but two babies on the first day of the new year.

On Saturday morning, Joseph and Sara Davidson welcomed Noah Joseph Davidson into their family. Noah is the couple’s first child — and was PVHC’s first birth of 2022. Noah was born at 9:05 a.m., weighing 6 pounds and 14 ounces.

The Davidsons weren’t expecting Noah until Jan. 24, “so that was exciting,” Sara said. “There were no warning signs.”

It’s been a hectic time for Joseph and Sara. Besides the new baby, in November, the couple bought their first home in Byron. Joseph is a physician’s assistant at Heritage Health Center — working at both the Powell and Lovell clinics — and Sara works as a nurse in Lovell. Joseph said Byron is a nice midway point for the couple’s commutes.

Needless to say, they’re a little stressed, but also excited.

“I think anyone having their first kid, there’s some anxiety. But we’re both really happy,” Joseph said.

Sara praised Dr. Nicole Comer and the nurses at PVHC.

“The nurses were prepared and ready, and he came really fast,” Sara said of baby Noah. “We’re thankful he’s here safe.”

It didn’t take long for the second baby to arrive on New Year’s Day: Rowan Zachary Thomas was born at 10:44 a.m to Michael and Denae Thomas of Cody.

PVHC has held a Baby-Friendly designation from Baby-Friendly USA since 2010, and remains the only hospital in Wyoming with the honor.
