Powell to host Jackalope Jump on Nov. 21

If you’ve never been doused in frigid Wyoming waters to benefit a great cause, here’s your chance. The annual Jackalope Jump on Saturday, Nov. 21, will raise money for Special Olympics Wyoming.

Registration begins at 2 p.m., with the jump to follow at 3 p.m. at the Powell Fire Department, 1101 E. South St.

For years, the Jackalope Jump has challenged brave Wyomingites around the Cowboy State. It’s a way for everyone — individuals, organizations and businesses — to get involved in supporting Special Olympics Wyoming. All funds raised go to support programming and events for more than 1,600 athletes statewide.

Jackalope Jump participants raise a minimum of $50 per team member (teams of four-plus) or $100 per individual and bust out some jackalope jive moves under the fire department’s water shower.

If you think you have what it takes to “be bold, get cold” in honor of Special Olympics athletes, grab some friends and register today.

Special Olympics Wyoming is a not-for-profit organization providing year-round sports training, athletic competition and other related programs to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The organization offers athletes continuing opportunities to realize their potential, develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy and friendship.

Special Olympics Wyoming encourages and empowers people with intellectual disabilities, promoting acceptance for all, and fostering communities of understanding and respect.
