Powell High School senior Maddisson Hackenberg is among 10 outstanding Wyoming high school students to be awarded a $4,000 scholarship from the Kaiser Foundation. The scholarships may be renewed for an additional three years for students who continue to meet academic standards. Hackenberg and the other recipients were selected on the basis of merit with consideration given to their academic, extracurricualr and community service achievements. Financial need was also a consideration.

To date the Kaiser Foundation has awarded more than $2 million in scholarships to students throughout Wyoming. It was established in 1986 by the late Curt Kaiser of Cheyenne, founder of Kaiser and Co.

“By supporting Wyoming’s best and brightest students the Kaiser Foundation recognizes that our youth will determine the future of  our state and the nation,” said Kaiser, who died in 2004.

The foundation was created to promote the higher educational standards by providing opportunities for exemplary students. For 32 years the Kaiser Foundation has awarded scholarships to Wyoming high school graduates.

Other recipients include Adrianna Bush of Riverton; TyLinn Cooper of Gurnsey; Bailey Dodge of Tongue River; Sky Lefforge of Shoshoni; Madison Looper of Wind River; Elizabeth Lungren of Ten Sleep; Jaycee Myrtle of Torrington; Kimberly Sumida of Worland; and Brynn Zwetzig of Douglas.
