Police hosting annual open house Thursday evening

Posted

Powell police are inviting the public to stop by the police department from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday for an open house.

The event will feature tours of the department, child fingerprinting, displays and a discussion of ways to prevent crime — plus hot dogs, chips, drinks and other food.

Additionally, at 6 p.m., Powell Police Sgt. Chad Miner and his K-9 Niko will put on a demonstration of the drug-detecting dog’s abilities.

The annual open house “is all about building relationships and taking the opportunities for kids to explore and parents to see [the department] and let them know a little bit about what we’re about,” said Police Chief Roy Eckerdt.

The Powell Police Department is located at 250 N. Clark St., just south of City Hall.
