After winning the Wyoming Class ‘A’ State Tournament, the Powell Pioneers season is set to continue this Friday in Havre, Montana, at the Northwest Class ‘A’ Regional Tournament as the lone representative from Wyoming.
The Pioneers (46-18) will kick off the weekend with a matchup against the state champions from Oregon, Redmond Sunwest (26-7-1).
Redmond Sunwest is currently on an 11-game winning streak heading into the contest while the Pioneers have won 11 of their last 12 games.
If Powell wins, the Pioneers will advance to a game at 7 p.m. on Saturday; if Powell loses it will drop to the consolation bracket at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
In either of those matchups the Pioneers will take on either the Utah state champion Ridgeline Wolverines (22-7) or the host Havre Northstars (43-18-1).
Games will be broadcast on KPOW 1260 AM by Scott Mangold. Games may also be broadcast on nwcart.org or montanalegionbaseball.org/nwcart. The website also includes a bracket and information on pitching availability.
