Pioneers advance to semifinals at regionals

The Powell Pioneers secured a spot in the semifinals at the Northwest Class A Regional Tournament after a late night win Saturday night.

Rain delays kept the Pioneers from getting on the field until after 10 p.m. in Havre, Montana in a clash with the host Havre Northstars with the game finishing just before 1 a.m.

Powell used two runs in the third and fifth to take a 4-0 lead and held off a late charge by the hosts to walk away with a 4-3 victory.

Jhett Schwahn, Cole Fauskee and Aiden Greenwald had RBIs for the Pioneers.

Jacob Gibson got the win on the mound and Dalton Worstell got the save.

Powell advances in the winners' bracket to take on Service, Alaska at 7 p.m., with a berth in the championship game Tuesday on the line.
