Phyllis Marie Aagard Christiansen died Saturday, June 7 in Utah, with her family at her bedside. She was 78.

She was born in Burlington  on Feb. 24, 1930 to James Edgar and Mary Anona Jones Aagard. Phyllis married Arden Thorley Christiansen in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple on Aug. 31, 1955. They were blessed with seven children, 51 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren (with two on the way).

Phyllis was an exemplary and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family and her testimony of the gospel were the most important things in her life. She was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings.  Her great love, however, was always missionary work. She served three full-time missions for the Church: as a young woman in Denmark, then later with her husband in the Dominican Republic, and Florida.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Arden, her parents, and three grandchildren.  She is survived by her seven children and their spouses: Steven and JoanE Christiansen, Kathleen and Parr Young, Mary and Paul Hardin, Kristin and Jim White, Douglas and Terri Christiansen, Linda and Curt Reed, and Amy and Kirk Lott. She is also survived by her three siblings, Shirley Aagard, Leah Crowder, and Harold Aagard, as well as numerous loved ones.

Phyllis' selfless service, unwavering commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, example of hard work, and her devotion to her family has and will continue to bless the lives of all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 12, at 10 a.m. in the Burlington LDS Chapel. Burial will follow in the Burlington Cemetery. Donations may be made to the General Mission Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
