After weekend matches against Lander and Worland, the Powell High School volleyball team returned to the court on Tuesday evening for a road contest against Cody. The Panthers fell once again, losing in three sets to the Fillies, but the match was closer than when the two teams met in Powell back on Sept. 4.
Cody marched out of the gates with energy and took a sizable lead in the first set. PHS rallied and clawed its way back, but it wasn’t enough, and the Fillies won set one 25-20.
Powell held a lead early in the second set, but Cody found momentum and eventually won 25-19. In the third set, the Panthers were once again competitive, but were never able to hold the upper hand, eventually falling 25-20.
The Panthers are now 2-5 overall and have lost three matches in a row. PHS will attempt to break the skid on Saturday when it plays host to Buffalo in a nonconference contest. The varsity match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
Then at 6 p.m. Tuesday, the Panthers will host Red Lodge, Montana, in another nonconference competition.
