Traveling over the mountain to Buffalo the Powell Panther girls finished fourth in a competitive meet among conference foes, where two Panthers each earned a pair of wins.

Those wins for the Panthers came from Patricia Christensen and Kaitlin Diver, as Christensen won the 200 freestyle in 2 minutes, 12.19 seconds, and the 100 backstroke in 1:07.39, while Diver won the 100 butterfly in 1:04.73 and the 500 free in 5:50.59.

Lynea Christensen added one more qualifying mark to her growing list of state qualifying times, earning a spot in the 50 free with her leadoff split in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 28.2.

Powell also had a high finish from Daisy Carpenter, who took second place in the 100 back in 1:12.6.

Lynea Christensen also took fourth in the 200 IM (2:43.07) and seventh in diving with a score of 167.95 to improve her best performance this season; Brooke Brown took fourth in the 100 fly (1:16.44) and seventh in the 100 back (1:17.22) and Sophie Erkkila took eighth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:32.6.

The 200 medley relay of Carpenter, Diver, Brown and Patricia Christensen took third with a time of 2:12.16 while the 400 free relay team of the Christensen sisters, Diver and Carpenter also took third with a time of 4:19.57.

The Panthers finished fourth with 206 points, just 10 behind Douglas, while host Buffalo prevailed with 352 points to Cody’s 272 in second. Worland placed fifth with 172.

Powell is heading down the final stretch of the season, with one regular season meet remaining before the conference, last chance and state meets over the final weeks of October into November.

That final regular season meet will be this Friday at home, when the Panthers host Buffalo, Cody and Worland in a quad at 4 p.m. at the Powell Aquatic Center.

The Panthers won’t have to travel to begin the postseason, as they will host their conference meet next weekend on Friday and Saturday.
