Making the short trip to Cody on Thursday the Powell Panther girls’ swim and dive team came up short against the rival Fillies in a dual, losing 111-69 as the Panthers won four events total.
Powell was led by double event winner Kaitlin Diver, who took the top spot in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1 minute, 5.49 seconds, and the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.63.
Daisy Carpenter also grabbed a win for the Panthers in the 100 backstroke in 1:14.32, while also taking second in the 200 IM in 3:06.88.
The Panthers took the top spot in the 400 free relay, as the team of Lynea Christensen, Brooke Brown, Carpenter and Diver won in 4:33.02.
In that event, Christensen added the 100 free to her state cuts after she was the leadoff leg and reached the state qualifying standard.
Additional top three finishes for the Panthers included Christensen taking second in the 500 free (6:32.12); Claire Hultgren taking third in the 200 free (2:40.77); Brown taking third in the 100 fly (1:17.51) and the 100 back (1:18.81) and Baylee Kraft taking third in the 100 free (1:20.58).
The Panthers head on one of their longer road trips of the season this weekend, making the trip to Douglas to take part in an invitational at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
That meet will bring a unique experience for the Panthers, as they will be competing in a meter pool as opposed to a yard pool they compete in a majority of the season.
Powell stays on the road next weekend when the Panthers head to Buffalo.
