At this stage amid COVID-19 life, plans for the annual Powell High School Alumni Association gathering are going forward.
That’s the word from Dave Williams, president of the alumni board. The annual summer event is set for Saturday, July 11 at the Park County Fairgrounds.
“We started planning for this year’s event while we were cleaning up after last summer’s get-together,” said Williams. “We lined up the same caterer for food and drinks.”
The alumni golf tournament is also on the books for Friday, July 10 at the Powell Golf Course.
Some classes like to get together in Washington Park for picnics and more small group visiting on Sunday, July 12.
“Right now, we’re going ahead,” Williams said. “If we have to hold off later because the virus is still limiting gatherings, we will decide something different then.”
Gerry Wilkins of Billings, a member of the alumni planning committee, agrees.
“The reunion is a big deal for the school, for the community, for a lot of people,” Wilkins said.
One PHS class celebrating an anniversary year, the Class of 1960, has already made its plans to observe a 60th class reunion with a buffet dinner at the Eagles Club Friday night, July 10, and a barbecue luncheon at Bobbie and Les Cloninger’s at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 11. Mary Wells and Nancy Hall are class contacts.
