In the final tournament of the regular season Thursday, the Powell High School golf team had a good start in Lander as four Panthers sat in the top 10 and both teams were in third heading into day two.
The leader in the clubhouse on the boys’ side was Cody Fisher, who shot a 72 to lead a pair of competitors from Lander by one stroke.
Park Harvison joined Fisher in the top 10 after shooting a 76, which put him in a four way tie for sixth.
Kason Sherman made a leap for the Panthers and shot an 82 to sit in 17th after day one.
Xander Clark returned to the Powell lineup and shot an 88 to put him in a tie for 29th.
Tucker Muecke finished with a 94 to tie for 38th, Ostin Kolb shot a 95 to tie for 40th and Ryder Stewart shot a 98 to tie for 47th.
As a team the Panthers shot a season best round 318 to sit in third place, behind Fremont County opposition as Lander led with 303 and Riverton had a score of 308.
On the girls’ side Emery Hernandez finished fifth on day one, ending with a 92.
In a tie for eighth, Ali Scott also sat in the top 10 with a 98.
Grace Gordon continued her improvement with a 109 to sit in 18th and Hadley Gutierrez was just behind her in 20th with a 112.
As a team the Panther girls also had a season’s best first day team score, recording a 299 to also sit in third place.
Thermopolis led the girls’ side with a score of 280 and Ten Sleep was second with 291.

Powell continues its busy week today (Tuesday) with the 3A West Conference Tournament hosted by Lyman in Evanston, and will conclude that tournament on Wednesday.
