Powell High School’s golf team has honored some of its top players from the 2013 season.
Pax Mitchell, a junior who earned All-State and All-Conference honors, won the boys’ most valuable player award. He finished the season with a fourth-place finish at conference and sixth-place finish at the Class 3A State Tournament.
Mikala Fulton won the most valuable honor on the girls side. She capped her junior campaign with a fifth-place finish at state — adding All-State honors to an earlier All-Conference medal earned by finishing runner-up.
Junior Zane Henderson — who made the jump from junior varsity to varsity this year — won the title of most improved. Going out for golf for the first time this year, sophomore Stevi Smith was recognized as the most improved Lady Panther.
Seniors Dillon Nix and Jared Wantulok shared most inspirational honors on the boys side, with junior Carli Brown earning the recognition for the girls.
