Powell High School alumni will return to Powell once again for the 96th annual PHS Alumni Weekend.
Individual classes will get together Friday for their reunions, and all-class events are scheduled for Saturday.
Saturday kicks off with the Alumni Fun Run at 7 a.m., beginning at the corner of Clark and First streets. Participants may register in advance at the Powell Recreation Office or prior to run at 6:30 a.m.
At 8 a.m., breakfast will be served on the lawn at the Powell Valley Chamber of Commerce for all those attending the reunion.
The annual golf tournament opens with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. at the Powell Golf Club. Registration is from 9-9:30 a.m.
The annual Alumni Dinner takes place at The Commons in downtown Powell. Tickets, which must be purchased by today (Tuesday, June 21) are $25. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:30. Janet Bovee Burgess, Class of 1950, will bring the invocation, and Carl Beavers, Class of 1960, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
A new feature of the banquet this year will be the presentation of a Distinguished Alumni Award by the Powell Schools Foundation.
Saturday’s activities will conclude with alumni dances from 8:30 p.m. until midnight. The Randy Keller Band will play inside The Commons, and Hurricane Mesa will provide music outside. The public is welcome with admission of $3 per person or $5 for a couple.
A full bar will be available in The Commons and a beer garden will be open at Plaza Diane.
