On Monday and Tuesday, Powell Golf Club hosted the PGA Rocky Mountain Yellowstone Chapter Championship. The event featured nearly two dozen professionals from the Big Sky region.
Renzi Lee of Lake Hills Golf Course won the event, finishing the two-day tournament with a score of 7-under. The Billings-based golfer notched seven birdies on Monday en route to a score of 66, and he followed that up with a 71 on Tuesday.
Tied for second at 3-under, Powell Golf Club professional Kury Reynolds performed exceptionally. He shot a 68 on day two and logged three birdies in a row on holes 4, 5 and 6, helping him stay near the top of the leaderboard. The other golfer who finished at 3-under was James Stanofski of Yellowstone Country Club in Billings.
There was a sizable gap between the second place finishers and fourth place. Tom Anderson of Laurel, Montana, finished fourth with a 6-over score — nine strokes behind Reynolds and Stanofski.
Vaughn Jenkins, executive director of Rocky Mountain PGA, dubbed the championship a success.
“The competitors and Section staff enjoyed their experience and the hospitality shown to them,” Jenkins said. “The outstanding weather was an added bonus.”
