Dear editor:
I suggest we the people pay attention to what the current administration is saying and doing.
Recently, Donald Trump has been talking about silencing medias that criticize him. According to the First Amendment to the Constitution, we the people and the press are guaranteed freedom of speech. From the Oval Office Trump said, “They’ll take a great story and make it bad. See, I think that’s really illegal, personally.”
It doesn’t matter what he thinks “personally!” Our country is guided by the Constitution, not Trump. To quote another president, Teddy Roosevelt, “To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic but is morally treasonable to the American public.” Also, President Trump is using racial profiling to round up immigrants — many of whom are here legally — putting them in jails and/or flying them to other countries without due process. Hitler rounded up the Jews and imprisoned them without due process. President Trump is sending National Guard troops to cities under the guise of stopping crime when it’s obvious he wants troops in place to control we the people. We witnessed an attempted coup on Jan. 6, 2021, and I believe we are now witnessing the staging of another coup attempt.
