Each spring, local elementary schools honor seniors who once attended school there. Seniors share memories from their elementary years and reconnect with former teachers, principals and school staff.
Since students and teachers can’t gather this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, Parkside Elementary School will instead host a Senior Caravan to honor former students.
On Thursday, May 21, Parkside staff will drive to each senior’s home with a police-escorted caravan, blasting music, delivering gifts and spreading goodwill.
Parkside staff said they’ll start in town at 1 p.m. They’re asking seniors to be patient and wait for them as they go to 30 different houses.
“We’ll be there! You’ll hear us coming,” staff wrote in an announcement to seniors.
While they can’t connect with students in the same way this spring, educators are still excited to recognize students “who are special to Parkside.”
“We can’t wait to see you and share our best wishes to you for a most awesome future!” staff wrote in a message to the Class of 2020.
