Park staff shortages as Washington parties

Dear editor:

Attached please find my most recent communication to Sen. John Barrasso:

In mid-June, my wife and I decided to visit Lake Hotel in Yellowstone for lunch. When we got there, the restaurant was closed. We were disappointed, but decided to go to the buffet counter at Lake Lodge instead. That too was closed. We finally had to settle for a pre-made cold cut sandwich from the “deli” back at the hotel. Everywhere we visited that day, we saw signs of under-staffing, deferred maintenance and general neglect. Even during the pandemic, when we visited Lake, we had a better experience.

Later, visiting with a friend who has a job that often deals with tourists, she commented on having heard similar complaints from them.

Turns out, Donald Trump diverted hundreds of millions of dollars from the National Park Service to throw an America 250 party that nobody attended.

Thanks for watching out for your constituency, John!
