As the countdown is on for the Park County Fair, there is one event in particular that draws in a large crowd.

The muddy mess of Pig Mud Wrestling is an event that is rather loved by those in Park County.

The event gives those of all ages a chance to have fun and let loose, by slopping around in the mud.

“My favorite part is definitely the youth involvement,” Park County Fair and Events Coordinator Billy Wood said. “We have a lot of junior teams, and pig wrestling is a good way to bring them and their families to the fair.”

Wrestling will take place on Tuesday at the grandstands.

The event has space for 40 teams. Age groups range from “Pee Wee” which is ages 6-9, all the way to Adult teams which are 16 and up. This gives everyone the opportunity to participate.

With each age range comes a different sized pig. This adds challenge, and especially extra entertainment for the crowd.

“We contract out 45 hogs,” Wood said. “I always get a big ole sow for the men’s division — that always gives the crowd a good laugh."

The participants will be grappling pigs from the same livestock contractor as years past, Bill Kline of Wheatland.

In terms of helping build the crowd to cheer on the participants, you can buy tickets to the event at the box office, located on the Park County Fairgrounds, or purchase them on the Park County Fair and Events website.

Gates open at 6 p.m. and the wrestling begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at tickets.parkcountyeventsandfair.com/tickets.
