The Panther boys finished just 11 points out of first while Powell's girls were third among the seven schools in attendance.

Both the boys' and girls' divisions were won by Cody. Burlington also finished ahead of Powell in the final girls' team standings.

Two members of the Panthers' roster — Patrick Sullivan in the 400 meters and Rustin Myrick in the 300-meter hurdles — added their name to the list of pre-qualifiers for the state meet. Sullivan scored a narrow victory in the 400 meters with a time of 51.78 seconds. Myrick cruised to victory in the 300-meters in 41.05 seconds.

The pair were two of three individual event champions crowned by the Panther boys in Worland. Bodie Friday led the pack across the finish line in the boys' 1600. Friday was also part of Powell's only winning relay team, joining with teammates Dallas Robirds, Patrick Sullivan and Zach Thiel to win the 4x800.

While the group didn't produce an event champion, the Panthers' shot put corps demonstrated its dominance by producing five of the top seven performances. Matt McArthur's toss of 45 feet, 6.5 inches, was good enough for second place and team-high honors in the event. Teammates Casey Borcher (third, 44'10.75”), Ryan Brandt (fifth, 43'4.75”), Andrew Young (sixth, 43'1.25”) and Jacob Beuster (seventh, 42'8.5”) helped pack the final standings with Panthers.

There were no state pre-qualifiers on the Panther girls' side of the ledger on Thursday, but there were five event championships. Megan Darrow grabbed victory at 3200 meters while Stephanie Paul led a quartet of Panthers into the top eight of the 400-meter standings with a time of 1:04.49.

Alyssa Rodriguez crossed in second place, roughly two seconds behind Paul. Haylee Humphries (seventh) and Kassey MacDonald (eighth) also logged team points in the event.

The Panthers also swept the title in all three of the girls relay events.
