The 14th annual Powell Aquatic Center Triathlon is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, with registration ending soon for the race through Powell.
Starting at the PAC, racers will swim 500 yards or 20 lengths of the pool to complete the first portion of the race. Timers for the swimming will be provided by the Powell Piranha Swim Club and counters will be provided for competitors.
Competitors then head out the north side of the building and hop on their bikes, cycling up Homesteader Court and turning right onto Seventh Street.
They’ll then turn onto Road 8 heading north before turning west onto Lane 8.
Racers will then turn right onto the Elk Basin Highway and bike until the turnaround point, returning in the opposite direction to total approximately 15.5 miles for the biking portion of the race.
Athletes will then hop off the bike, turning right back around onto Homesteader Court, then turning left onto Seventh Street, racing to the intersection of Seventh and Grand streets before turning around and returning to the PAC to complete the 5K run.
Entry costs for the event will be $35 for a solo athlete and $65 for a team of up to three members. An entry form can be found online on powellaquatics.com with entrants receiving a PAC sports bag, drink tumbler and a T-shirt to commemorate the event alongside other miscellaneous items.
Packet pickup for the event is Friday evening at 4 p.m. or early Saturday morning. The pool will be open at 7 a.m. for warmups on Saturday with the event beginning at 8 a.m.
Registration is open through Sunday, but event organizer Tanya Bonner said they will accept entries through early Monday morning.
