Opinion vs. fact

Dear editor:

There are two letters in the March 4 Tribune that need to be acknowledged. No names are needed as to whom we are referring to.

There is a quote from Daniel Patrick Moynihan that says so much. “You are entitled to your opinion. But you are not entitled to your own facts.” (Apparently, Moynihan made this quote popular in 1983 but he credited it to Alan Greenspan in 1984.)

Fact: JFK, Jr. hasn’t had time to show us what he can do for the country. He is not the first non-physician in the HHS office. Tom Price was confirmed in 2017 to hold the same office.

Opinion: Many of Biden’s cabinet members were not qualified for their jobs. They were selected because they ticked the right boxes.

Fact: Trump is not picking his cabinet members because they tick the right boxes. They all had robust resumes before they were chosen.

Opinion: We are learning about the measles outbreak in Texas but we are not being told how it came about. Could it have been brought in by unvaccinated illegals? There are a number of “irradicated diseases” that are showing up again in this country since our borders were invaded.

Fact: The American people are now very wary of vaccines. Right or wrong, we were exposed to too many lies or misrepresentations by Dr. Anthony Fauci and his cohorts.

Fact: Too many of our federal legislators are now millionaires and we are finding out why under Trump.
