The Northwest College volleyball team finish a winning weekend, going 3-1 at home. The Trappers swept Colorado Northwestern Community College and Dawson Community College, defeated Williston State College 3-2 before losing the final match to Miles Community College 3-1.

Beginning the action on Thursday the Trappers (7-9) welcomed the Spartans (2-6).
Northwest dominated the first set, recording only one hitting error and using a big run early in the set to take a 25-7 win.
A similar story followed in the second set, as the Trappers recorded double-digit kills as a team to win 25-10.
Despite a weak hitting percentage in the third set, the Trappers earned a 25-16 win to complete the sweep.
McKinlee Scammon led with nine kills, Jaylie Critchfield had 19 assists, Nevaeh Bell led with nine digs, Eva Murray had three blocks, while Maddie Mills, Elayna Burrell and Jaylin Mills all finished with three aces.
NORTHWEST 3, DAWSON CC 0
In the first of two games on Friday the Trappers took on the Buccaneers (0-11).
Northwest held Dawson to single digit points, as the Trappers took the 25-9 win.
Despite not hitting well in the second set the Trappers still pulled away to earn a 25-14 win, before finishing the match with a 25-12 third set win.
Torey Parker led with 11 kills, Critchfield had 20 assists, the Mills cousins led with seven digs each, Saige Kidd led with 1.5 blocks and Scammon led with four aces.
“It took a lot of discipline for our girls to set the correct tone of the game (for CNCC and Dawson),” coach Nicole Buck said. “I thought they did a good job of doing that by staying aggressive and holding a high standard for those matches. That was really encouraging because that’s not an easy thing to do.”
NORTHWEST 3, WILLISTON STATE COLLEGE 2
Late Friday night the Trappers took on the Tetons (6-4) in a competitive match throughout.
Northwest led early in the first set, but Williston took the lead midway through before holding on late for the 25-22 win.
The Trappers took the lead early in the second and pulled away in the middle of the set, earning a 25-20 win to tie the match 1-1.
The third set was again close, as Williston held a lead throughout the set until Northwest tied it at 22.
The Tetons then won three out of the final four points to take the 25-23 win.
In the fourth set Northwest kept the visitors at arms’ length, never being able to pull away but earning a 25-21 win to force a decisive fifth set.
“It was good for the girls to have to keep battling and be able to battle at home in front of a crowd, with friends and parents watching and learn how to handle a different kind of pressure,” Buck said.
Northwest started the fifth set strong and pulled away for a 15-8 win to finish the match 3-2.
Parker led with 12 kills just ahead of Brakkin Larsen who had 10.
Critchfield led with 28 assists, Scammon had 11 digs, Saige Kidd led with five blocks, three solo, while Bell led with four aces.
MILES CC 3, NORTHWEST 1
Ending the weekend on Saturday afternoon the Trappers took on the Pioneers (10-7).
Close sets was the theme of the day, as the Pioneers took the first set 26-24.
Going even further in the second set, the Trappers earned points late and won 32-30.
Flipping back into the lead the Pioneers held on in the third set, as Northwest fell 25-23.
The fourth set had the largest winning margin of the day, as the Pioneers held off Northwest once again for a 25-21 win to finish the match with the 3-1 win.
“The consensus from the team was that they had more to give … We talked a lot about how we lost by a combined nine points, and we missed 13 or 14 serves. So you can bet your bottom dollar that’s what we’ve been doing the last two days,” Buck said. “We’re just making sure that we’re not taking points off … The encouraging piece of that is that those things are totally within
our control.”
Parker led with 18 kills, Critchfield had 39 assists and four aces, Bell and Jaylin had 10 digs while Larsen and Parker had 2.5 blocks each.
FINAL NONCONFERENCE MATCH
Northwest heads on the road this week, but just for one
match.
“It’s a really nice breath of fresh air to be able to relax a little bit. Know that we have four full practices instead of like two-and-a-half before we have to get going for a game again,” Buck said. “Gives the girls time to rest mentally and physically while still allowing us plenty of time to focus on the things that we need to.”
The Trappers don’t have to wait long for a chance at revenge against the Pioneers, as Northwest heads to Miles City at 7 p.m. on Friday.
“Miles always puts together a pretty hostile environment, and I like having to play in an atmosphere like that,” Buck said. “It’s good for the girls to have to learn and adjust to those kinds of things, and kind of figure out how to play volleyball under any circumstance.”
