Nada Larsen, who has served on the Northwest College Board of Trustees since 2012, is resigning her position, effective July 15.
Larsen serves District C, which covers the Meeteese area, but she is moving out of the district. That means she can no longer serve in that position on the board.
“My husband and I are, simply, aging out of being able to comfortably continue to live in our home on the family ranch, particularly during the winter months,” Larsen said.
She and her husband, Mervin, will be moving to Cody. A lifelong resident of Meeteetse, Nada Larsen said she will miss living in the community.
“But we are looking forward to settling into our new home,” she said.
Larsen said, in her position on the board, she’s had to make a lot of difficult decisions as local and state revenue sources declined — and she stands behind those decisions.
“I know that there will continue to be economic challenges but trust that Northwest College will continue to meet them with the best interests of the students at the core of the response,” she said.
In her resignation letter, Larsen expressed her gratitude toward her fellow trustees and the staff of NWC.
“You have my profound respect for all you do for Northwest College and the students you serve,” she said.
At the board’s regular meeting last week, Board President Dusty Spomer thanked Larsen for her service.
“We will greatly miss you and your contributions. There’s no question of the mark that you’ll have left on Northwest College,” Spomer said.
The board will be advertising the open position immediately, with the goal of appointing a trustee into Larsen’s former position at the next board meeting on July 13.
The new trustee’s first board meeting will be in August, which will be held in Meeteetse. That’s part of the board’s practice of holding a meeting in the other two NWC districts — Meeteetse and Cody — each year.
