New state website features resources for ongoing drought

Posted

Gov. Mark Gordon’s administration has launched a new website that will provide detailed, updated information on drought conditions in Wyoming.

The site drought.wyo.gov, provides resources and information for specific sectors impacted by drought — including agriculture, tourism, recreation, municipalities and water utilities. It also offers information on federal and state resources and assistance available to those impacted by drought. Information on wildfire conditions and restrictions plus links to United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) drought disaster designations for Wyoming are also available.

“Our goal in developing this resource is to make relevant and timely information available in a single location,” Gordon said. “This effort capitalizes on the collaborative partnerships already in place between state and federal agencies and allows us to better communicate program resources.”

Wyoming has been experiencing drought conditions since 2020 and this past winter’s average snowpack did not alleviate dry soil conditions.
