New staff to join PCSD1 for 2025-2026 school year

On Aug. 21 Powell students will be welcomed by some new faces. The following staff have joined Park County School District 1 for the 2025-2026 school year:

     

Matt Carlson

Matt Carlson will be stepping into the role of Powell High School’s industrial arts teacher. Carlson has a bachelor’s in English literature and bachelor’s in secondary education from the University of Wyoming as well as a master’s in education in curriculum and instruction for career and technical education from Chadron State College. He taught in Douglas for the past 10 years.

     

Brandy Davison

Brandy Davison will be stepping into the role of school counselor at Parkside Elementary School. Davison has a bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in Christian counseling from Liberty University and a Master of Science in counseling from the University of Wyoming. She is certified through the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) and is currently working on her Licensed Professional Counselor certification.

Davison previously worked at PCSD1 fro 10 years as the in-school suspension coordinator and then in the behavior program before taking a year off to complete her master’s internship hours at Powell High School. 

    

Elise Cole

Elise Cole will be teaching kindergarten through second grade at Clark Elementary School. She has a bachelor’s in elementary education from the University of Wyoming and a master’s in curriculum and instruction from Adams State University. She is certified for kindergarten-sixth grade in Wyoming. Cole has taught for 10 years. She spent her first three years teaching a multigrade class (first, third and fourth grade) in rural Alaska. She spent one year teaching first grade in Lyman, and has taught kindergarten-second grade at Wapiti  Elementary School for the past six years.

    

Beth Noble

Beth Noble will be stepping into the role of Title I teacher at Southside Elementary School. Noble graduated from Powell High School and went to Montana State University where she received a bachelor’s in elementary education with a specialization in early childhood education.

Noble taught first grade in Bismarck, North Dakota, for three years before moving back to Powell where she taught science for kindergarten-grade 10 students at Powell Christian School.

     

Jamie Jacobsen 

Jamie Jacobsen will be teaching fifth grade at Westside Elementary School. She graduated from Powell High School, has an associate degree in accounting from Ricks College/ BYU Idaho, a bachelor’s in administration from the University of Wyoming and a master’s in elementary teaching from the American College of Education.

Jacobsen previously worked as a bookkeeper in Casper and Powell, an English as a second language teacher for Eleutian Technology and as a substitute teacher and paraeducator for fifth grade at Westside Elementary. 

    

Aryn Downs

Aryn Downs will be the sixth grade special education teacher at Powell Middle School. She has an associate degree in early childhood education from Casper College, a bachelor’s in educational studies (mild to moderate special education) from Western Governor’s University and is working toward her master’s in K-12 special education.

Downs started working in the district in 2023 as an at-risk para at Parkside Elementary where she became a special education para the following year. Last year she worked as a “firefighter” where was able to jump to any unfilled or extra duty special education absence in the district, sometimes multiple times in the same day.

    

Trysa Damiano

Trysa Damiano will be coming to Powell High School to teach family and consumer science.

Damiano graduated valedictorian from Lovell High School in 2017 and graduated with an Associate of Science in Elementary Education from Northwest College summa cum laude. Damiano earned a Bachelor of Science in middle school social studies with an endorsement in Family and Consumer Science for grades six-12 from Chadron State College summa cum laude.

Damiano taught English to students in grades six-12 in a Yupik village in southwestern Alaska for one year where she also coached middle school coed volleyball.

She taught middle school consumer science at Rock Springs Junior High School and was the debate coach for the Rock Springs High School speech and debate team.
