On Friday, two planes with the Wyoming Air National Guard will cross the state conducting an aerial salute to the state’s health care professionals fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Air National Guard’s 153rd Airlift Wing will present a two-ship C-130 flyover above each Wyoming hospital, honoring 33 facilities. The effort starts above the Niobrara Health and Life Center in Lusk at 9:35 a.m.
They’ll reach the South Big Horn County Hospital in Basin at 11:05 a.m. Friday, then zip over the North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell five minutes later.
At 11:20 a.m., the C-130s will salute Powell Valley Healthcare from high above, followed by a nod to Cody Regional Health at 11:25 a.m. The crews will then head to Thermopolis and points beyond, ending in Cheyenne at 3:15 p.m.
“We salute all those, both around the state of Wyoming and across the nation who have sacrificed so much to serve on the frontlines of this pandemic,” said Col. Justin Walrath, 153rd Airlift Wing commander and pilot. “It’s truly an honor for the men and women of the Wyoming Air National Guard to provide a ‘thank you’ to the first responders, medical professionals, and essential personnel providing support at this time.”
The aerial demonstration is part of Operation American Resolve, a nationwide salute to all those supporting the COVID-19 response effort.
Anyone who captures video or photo footage of the C-130s flying overhead is encouraged to post on social media with the hashtags #AirForceSalutes and #AFFlyover.
