Dear editor:
In response to the article in Tuesday, Jan. 7 Powell Tribune entitled “Police department adopts new logo, paint scheme.”
For some time now, we have wondered to ourselves just how badly Powell police department needs a new logo and paint scheme. (Readers, please accept this as complete sarcasm).
This action is a shining example of how government bodies fritter away their newfound property tax revenue windfall. It’s not just the city but county and state governments as well.
Secondly, if this is the biggest priority of the new chief, it may be time to rethink the city’s choice. The questions to ask: Will the new logo/paint scheme enhance public safety? NO. Will the new logo/paint scheme help attract new recruits? Unlikely. Will the new logo/paint scheme increase pay for officers? NO. Will the new logo/paint scheme provide additional benefits to officers? NO.
Surely there are more important issues for which taxpayer money can be spent.
