Mina Maxine Christensen passed away one day after her 100th birthday, on Aug. 22, 2021.
She was looking forward to her special day on Aug. 21, 2021, but one week before her big celebration she had a tragic fall outside of her house while she was watering her flowers.
There were many prayers and lots of wonderful care from the staff at Powell Valley Healthcare and the Billings Clinic. She was able to be home for her 100th birthday party and celebrate with many friends and family! Sadly, the following day she caught pneumonia and passed away. She left this world knowing she was loved and went to her heavenly home.
When asked what her secret to a long life was, she would tell you to stay active, both mentally and physically. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading, cross-stitching, gardening and walking. Her loving personality, quick wit and quiet faith showed to all around her what a beautiful woman she was.
Mina was born Aug. 21, 1921, to Otis and Maud Williams in Flowerfield, Nebraska. She grew up outside of Pavillion, Wyoming, with her brother, Bob Williams, and sister, Letha (Williams) Asbury.
She was married to Harold Christensen on June 26, 1947. They raised their four daughters: Carol (Dennis) Lawrence, Joan (Larry) Quick, Susan (Mike) Gulbrandson and Patty (Kevin) Johnson in Powell. They lost an infant son, Thomas, shortly after birth.
She will be greatly missed by her four daughters, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at the Presbyterian Church, at 329 North Bent Street in Powell.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
