Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 24 at 1:30 p.m. at Union Presbyterian Church in Powell for long-time resident, Mildred Irene Ware, who died Friday, March 17 at the West Park Long Term Care Center in Cody. She was 88.

The Rev. David Hunter will officiate at services and burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 14, 1917, in Sewal, Iowa, daughter of Forrest A. Kincade and Lizzie Collins Kincade. She graduated from Seymour High School in 1934 and attended teachers college, then later earned a degree from Northwest Institute of Medical Technology.

She married Wilford L. Ware, and they made their home in Powell where she worked as a medical lab technician. She also worked in Denver, Minneapolis, Centerville, Iowa and Wenatchee, Wash.

As the chairwoman of the Mayor’s Committee for the Disabled, she was instrumental in acquiring the grant money for the handicapped ramp at the Powell Post Office. She also was a volunteer hair dresser at the Powell Nursing Home.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Shoshone Rock Club, Eastern Star and BPOE Does. She enjoyed her bridge clubs and painting and made scenic rock pictures. She was an outdoor enthusiast where she engaged in rock hunting, fishing, golfing, and pheasant and duck hunting. She was also fond of gardening and raising roses, sewing and travel. She had traveled to China and Panama.

Survivors include a stepson, Bill Ware of Sheridan; two step-daughters, Charlotte Ware Magee of Cheyenne and Ginny Ware of Sheridan; a sister, Eunice (Richard) Clark of Grain Valley, Mo.; nephews James S. (Christie) Allison of Powell and David Allison of Flagstaff, Ariz.; niece Stacy A. (Bill) Althaus of Grain Valley, Mo.; great-nephews Derek and Scott Allson, Zachary and Sean Althaus; grandchildren, Clark (Kristi) Jensen, Andrew Ware and Sam Ware; and great-grandchildren, Ellie and Morgan Jensen, Jordan Ware.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilford Ware; a sister, Reva Allison and brother-in-law, Lester Allison; and granddaughter Colette Jensen Day.

Pallbearers at the funeral will be Bill Ware, David Allison, Derek Allison, Scott Allison and Allen Knopp. Honorary pallbearers are James S. Allison, Bill Althaus, Richard Clark, Clark Jensen, Andrew Ware and Sam Ware.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday) and from 12 noon to 1:15 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home.
