Funeral services for Michelle Marie Schwab, 48, who died peacefully in her Las Vegas, Nev., home on Nov. 22, were conducted Saturday, Nov. 27 at Hope Lutheran Church in Powell.
Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 7, 1956, to James and Carlene Murphy in Powell. She graduated from Powell High School in 1974. She then went to Northwest College for two years before transferring to Carroll College in Helena, Mont., where she graduated in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in nursing.
She moved back to Powell where she worked at Powell Hospital for 20 years as a registered nurse in the OB department.
In 1988, she met and fell in love with Mike Schwab. They were married Jan. 27, 1990, and combined two families into one, living south of Powell.
While in Powell, she loved to go camping and fishing, Michelle also loved being involved with the USA wrestling program and 4-H.
In 2002, Michelle moved to LasVegas with Mike in search of better medical treatment for her multiple sclerosis. In Las Vegas, she loved to go shopping and eat out at different dining establishments, as well as making trips to California. A few highlights for her were dropping quarters into video poker machines and playing with her grandson.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Schwab; her sons, Michael and Stephen Schwab; her daughter, Jessica and husband Alberto and grandson Xavier Medina; her mother, Carlene Murphy of Powell; Jim and Lisa Murphy, Annette and Tay; nephew Matt Dillon, Randy and Kristie Murphy
She was preceded in death by her father, James Murphy, her sister, Debbie, and her brother, William Joseph.
For anyone wishing to make donations, the family is setting up a scholarship in Michelle's name at the Northwest College nursing school.
