Dear editor:
Concerning the article about Wyoming Rep. Harriet Hageman's continued support for the sale of our public lands, context matters. In Montana, both senators and the West district congressman, have heard the overwhelming voice of their constituents, and have opposed any sale of public land in that state.
Meanwhile in Wyoming our delegation appears to be falling all over themselves to to put our public lands on the auction block, for the benefit of billionaires and big corporations, even though 69% of Wyoming residents are opposed to any sale of our public lands. Our efforts to meet with Hageman have been met with silence. Do we even matter anymore?
Do not be mislead, this so-called sale of public land for "housing and infrastructure concerns" is merely a ruse to get their foot in the door, paving the way for massive land sales to the fat cats. The public lands will be sold, the money spent, and we the people will be left with nothing. The public lands do not belong to the federal agencies, the Legislature, or the Congress. They belong to the people (you and me). They are our heritage, our birthright.
The message to Congresswoman Hageman is simple. NOT ONE ACRE, NOT ONE SQUARE INCH ON THE AUCTION BLOCK.
