Meeteetse clerk-treasurer elected to international institute

Angela Johnson, MMC, clerk-treasurer for the Town of Meeteetse, Wyoming, was elected to the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), a nonprofit organization with more than 15,000 members worldwide. Johnson was sworn in during the Institute’s 76th Annual Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas, on May 25, 2022, during the organization’s annual business meeting. 

Johnson’s region is comprised of approximately 1,000 members representing Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. She will serve a three-year term culminating in May 2025.

Angie and her husband Larry are both Wyoming natives. They have three children. As a family, they enjoy all activities Wyoming has to offer including hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, water skiing, hiking and horseback riding.

Coaching hockey and track are other ways Angie stays involved. In her spare time, she’s the clerk-treasurer for the town of Meeteetse and has been an employee for the town since 2000. Angie’s role with Meeteetse has provided many other opportunities for leadership, which including serving as the Meeteetse swimming pool supervisor, lifeguard instructor, water safety instructor, community first aid and CPR instructor, certified pool operator and Meeteetse fire district secretary, positions she will retain. Angie has been a board member and volunteer for many civic and educational organizations such as IIMC Diversity Task Force, IIMC Education and Professional Development Committee, WAM-JPIC, Park County School District 16, Meeteetse Cemetery District, Meeteetse Community Facilities Joint Powers, Meeteetse Youth Work Program and Meeteetse Strategic Planning Committee. 

Her educational experience includes a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from Jamestown College in North Dakota.

Founded in 1947, IIMC is a professional nonprofit association with more than 15,000 members throughout North America and 12 other countries, representing municipalities with populations of 1,000 to more than 10 million. IIMC prepares its membership to meet the challenges of the diverse role of the municipal clerk by providing services and continuing professional development opportunities in 46 permanent college-and university-based learning centers.
