Maynard S. Hawley of Powell died Wednesday, May 11, 2011. He was 90.
Maynard was born on Sept. 11, 1920, to Guy and Bertha (Scott) Hawley in Powell.
He attended Powell schools and graduated from Powell High School. Maynard served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from May 1943 to December 1945.
On Oct. 24, 1946, he married Elsie Nielsen in Billings.
Maynard worked as a farmer until 1969, when he bought Jones Plumbing.
He enjoyed fishing and traveling down south each winter.
He attended the Presbyterian church, and was a past commander of the American Legion. Maynard also was involved with the Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge and Big Horn Basin Boat Club.
Maynard is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elsie; son Melvin (Peggy) Hawley; daughter Kathy (Pat) Graham; granddaughters Danelle (Mark) Schmitz and Andrea Hawley; and grandson Paul Graham.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and sisters, Helen White and Joyce Christiansen.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 16 at Thompson Funeral Home with Kurt McNabb officiating.
