Maye J. Jones of Powell died on Oct. 6, 2019.
She was born on April 30, 1925, to Matthew McLaughlin and Mary Althoff. She graduated from Powell High School in 1943 and married Bill Jones on May 27, 1943. She lived her whole life as a faithful Catholic on the Powell flat. She was the oldest parishioner of Saint Barbara’s Catholic Church.
Bill and Maye had six children, 21 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two children James Jones and Judy Gardowski, and two grandchildren Kari Nevil and Lenny Gardowski. She is survived by her children, Tom (Tammy) Jones, Ted (Mary) Jones, Mark (Lynn) Jones, Mary (Mike) Fischer and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, at Saint Barbara’s Catholic Church in Powell. Viewing will begin at St. Barbara’s at 9 a.m. with a funeral at 10 a.m.
