(Oct. 6, 1957 - April 11, 2011)
Maria Lucille Ogburn died Monday, April 11, 2011, at the Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, Calif. She was 53.
Maria was born Oct. 6, 1957 to Conzuelo and Jake Garrison. As a young child Maria was a Girl Scout and she enjoyed spending time at her Gramita’s house and playing with her cousins. As a young adult she was active in karate, and drama and played the clarinet in her high school band. She was even one of the first female members of her high school’s wrestling team. Maria was very curious and some would call her fearless.
She married her soul mate and best friend, Bruce Ogburn on Sept. 15, 1995. Her dream in life was to become a mother, at which she succeeded. She had four children in five years: Douglas Lawrance Roberts, Larry Lee Roberts, Candace Lauren Roberts (Lopez-Haller) and Maria “Ria” Roberts (Moss).
Maria and Bruce enjoyed camping, gardening and loved their pug dogs. Maria’s greatest joy in recent years was spending time with her 10 grandchildren, Garrison Douglas Roberts, Sydney Lauren Roberts, Emma Jean Roberts, Benjamin Lee Roberts, Kiera Jane Roberts, Danial Laker Roberts, Samuel Lee Lopez-Haller, Luke Victorino Lopez-Haller, Jackson Douglas Moss and Annika Belle Moss.
Maria was a proud daughter of God and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She never missed a Los Angeles Laker game and she was an adored wife, amazing mother and grandmother and cherished friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, baby sister, and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19 at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 7th Street in Powell. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery following services.
