(Dec. 18, 1940 - March 7, 2009)Lyman Reed “Butch” Sammons, of Lovell, died March 7. He was born on Dec. 18, 1940 to Anne Emily (Lyman) and William Elmer Sammons in Cedar Butte Township, S.D. He graduated from high school in Brookings, S.D., and later served in the United States Army. Upon his discharge, he moved to Wyoming.He was a “jack of all trades,” spending time as a farrier, ranch manager and oil field foreman. He also had his own trucking firm.On March 22, 1969 he married Sharon Ley of Cody. To this union, three children were born: Ty, Kyle and Keri.Butch is survived by his wife; children, Ty Sammons of Byron, Kyle Sammons of Rock Springs and Keri Sammons of Idaho Falls, Idaho; a brother, Allan Sammons of Riverton; one granddaughter and a nephew.He was preceded in death by his parents.A memorial service will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
