Myrtle Lucille Shelby, known to her family and friends as Lucille, died peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at 85 years old.

She was born Jan. 4, 1926 in Powell, as the oldest of four to Ferdinand and Myrtle Burgener.

In 1947 she married Oscar Jennings Shelby (O.J.) from Joplin, Mo.

O.J. and Lucille lived in Wyoming several years then moved to Utah, then California for several years, then on to Texas, and finally back to California. Lucille had a long career as a registered nurse and provided comfort and care to many.

She was a devout Catholic, participated in several ministries and contributed to many in various ways within her communities.

O.J. preceded Lucille in death in 2005.

She is survived by her sisters Helen Voorhies, Lois Adey; her brother Don Burgener and their families. She is also survived by her six children: Mike Shelby of Lacey, Wash., Penny Ciraulo of San Martin, Calif., Brian Shelby of Whitesboro, Texas, Eric Shelby of Cottonwood, Calif., Linda Roschmann of Lincoln, Calif., and Kathleen Waggoner of Livingston, Mont. and their families. There are 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be held on Nov. 19 at St. Catherine Church in Morgan Hill, Calif.
