(Oct. 27, 2008)
Lifelong Cody resident, Lorraine Farlow, 68, died in her home Monday, Oct. 27 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends.
She was born April 15, 1940, in Cody. She spent her early years in Powell, and upon marrying her husband of 52 years, Elbie Farlow, lived the remainder of her life in Cody.
Lorraine spent her life primarily caring for her family, and later in life, caring for her extended family. It is fitting that she was cared for in her home by her children, her sister and her close friends, Elaine Allshouse and Marleah Lehman, both of Cody.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, gardening, caring for her cats (Fluffy, Precious, Baby and Shasta) and putting together jigsaw puzzles with her friends. She was an avid Bingo player. For many years, she supported the local animal shelter by sewing and donating kitty blankets. She also worked in retail sales through her mid-life and retired in the late 1990s. Through her work, she met many of her lifelong friends.
Survivors include her husband, Elbie; five children, Sandy Farlow of Cody, Deb Schultz of Cheyenne, Ed Farlow of Basin, Karen Bauch of Billings, Mont., and Teresa Farlow of Great Falls, Mont.; two sisters, Nancy Krell of Montana and Kathy Larson of Louisiana; three brothers, Charles in Washington, Paul and Ed in Louisiana; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody Monday, Nov. 3 at 10:30 a.m. The family requests that memorials be made in her name to Spirit Mountain Hospice, c/o West Park County Hospital, 707 Sheridan Ave., Cody, WY 82414.
