Lora Baston, 90, died Sunday, Dec. 3 at Powell Valley Care Center.

She was born April 26, 1916, in Vernal, S.D., to John Follum and Anna (Behrens) Follum. She graduated from high school in Spearfish, S.D., in 1984 and cosmology school in Minneapolis, Minn., in 1935. She married Dale Bason Oct. 23, 1938 in Beulah.

They lived in Rock Springs where she was a beautician.

A member of First Congregational Church in Rock Springs, she was a member of Order of Eastern Star and PEO.

She will be remembered as a generous and kind person who was always there for family and friends. She loved working in her beauty shop and cherished the friendships she developed there.

She was a great cook, immaculate housekeeper and a talented seamstress. Her grandchildren all have colorful quilts that Grandma handmade for each of them. After her retirement, she spent many wonderful days working at the Broadway Bargains Thrift Store.

Survivors include her son, Grant Baston (Judy) of Pasco, Wash., and grandchildren Angela (Baston) McKeone and John of Manchester, Conn., John Baston and Charles Baston of Taos, N.M., and great-grandchildren Tyler and Meghan McKeone; her daughter Karla (Ken) Rochlitz of Powell and grandchildren Kim (Rochlitz) Niemann and George of Cody and Kevin Rochlitz and Melissa of Reistertown, Md., and great-grandchildren, Riley Rochlitz, Kamden, Kennedi and Reece Niemann.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, in 1983; twin sister, Dora Follum; brother, Earl Follum; and sister, Naomi Spaulding.

At her request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Rock Springs. Thompson Funeral Home of Powell is handling arrangements.
