The Powell Tribune asked area legislators a bit about themselves to kick off the first week of the legislative session, such as education and work history, and thoughts on their time in the Legislature so far. Below are the responses from those who replied in time for this publication:
Rep. Rachel Rodriguez-Williams (HD50)
Bio
Rachel was elected to serve in the Wyoming Legislature for House District 50 in 2020. She is currently serving her third two-year term. Rachel serves as chairman of the Wyoming House Labor, Health, and Social Services Committee. She also serves on the Management Audit Committee and Rules and Procedures Committee.
She is a member of the House Republican Caucus, the chairman of the Wyoming Freedom Caucus, and a member of the Susan B. Anthony Prolife Women’s Caucus. Rachel was the prime sponsor and champion of the 2023 “Life is a Human Right” Act and the 2022 HB0092, the Wyoming abortion “trigger law.”
Rachel is a retired law enforcement officer and earned a master’s degree in Criminal Justice. She has served as a Park County GOP Precinct Committeewoman, from 2019-present. She has also served on the board of Park County Republican Women as a past president. She is a graduate of the Park County Leadership Institute, Class XII. Rachel is happiest with her husband, Chris, and their two children.
What would you say have been your biggest accomplishments so far in the Legislature?
Aside from the pro-life legislation I have sponsored, I would say I am proud to have sponsored a bill last session to end DEI wyoleg.gov/Legislation/2025/HB0147 that was enacted into law.
Sen. Tim French (SD18)

I’m not a member of the Freedom Caucus, I support much of what they do.

What would you say have been your biggest accomplishments so far in the Legislature?
I have always fought for the working men and women of Park County and the state.
Sen. Dan Laursen (SD20)

Grew up in Powell starting in third grade. I was born in Laramie. Graduated from Powell High School, associates degree from Northwest College, then received Bachelor of Science from UW in Agricultural Engineering.

Supporter of Freedom Caucus, consider myself conservative.
Occupation
Farmed for 23 years, was manager of Heart Mountain Irrigation District for nine years, and then worked as a hydrographer for the State Engineers Office for nine years. I retired two years ago.
What would you say have been your biggest accomplishments so far in the Legislature?
This is my 12th year as a legislator. Got Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation passed.
Mountain Daylight Saving passed, waiting on federal government to allow.
Sex Designated Facilities and Public Schools passed.
I was one of the first to bring School Choice; it eventually passed a few years later.
Rep. Paul Hoeft (HD25)

Graduated from a vocational high school. Automotive technology degree from Bellingham Technical.

Pro-Life legislation. Parental rights. Election integrity. Protecting Children. Homeschool Freedom.
