Sign-ups for the 2011 Powell Little League baseball season will take place tonight (Tuesday) and Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m. at the Powell Recreation Office at 501 Homesteader Court.
Powell Little League conducts T-Ball, Coach/Machine pitch, Minor and Major division leagues throughout the late spring and early summer. The league is open to children ages 5-12, with playing age based on a child’s age as of May 1, 2011.
The cost to sign up is $40 for children age 5-8, $50 for those ages 9-12.
Parents of new players must provide a copy of their child’s birth certificate at registration. Parents should also complete a registration form (available online at www.eteamz.com/powellyouthbball) and a medical release form.
Tryouts for all new Minor and Major division players (ages 9-12) will be held Saturday, April 16, beginning at 10 a.m. at the fields in Homesteader Park. Practices will begin the third or fourth week of April, weather permitting. Younger divisions will start practice the first week in May.
Games begin the second or third week of May, depending on division.
Coaches and other volunteers are also needed for the upcoming season. Volunteer applications are available both online and at registration.
